Dental cleaning highlight of woman’s day

This article is a satire, but it's based in truth.

I remember when my boys were little, I was working full time and my husband was traveling a ton. It was very tough, and I was always exhausted.

One day I had a dental cleaning, and I remember thinking how wonderful it was to sit for an hour with my feet up in the middle of the day. (And then feeling super lame for enjoying my dental appointment so much!)

Check it out and let me know if you can relate: Dental cleaning highlight of woman’s day.

School shooting hits close to home

Yesterday, I was trying to work out an article about school shootings ... not an easy topic. And certainly not my usual lighthearted fare.

While I left that article sitting, half-written, a school shooting happened this morning just an hour away from our house.

Since writing is like therapy for me, I quickly finished the piece, and the kind editors at Her View From Home were great about posting it on their site super-fast.

"Mommy, why's the flag still at half-mast?"

This one makes me nervous. I don't want to get political. But as mothers, as humans, how can we NOT talk about this?

Do you charge Mommy Tax? You should.

I started charging my boys Mommy Tax a while ago so I could share their Blizzards at Dairy Queen without them whining about it. What can I say, I'm a mean mom.

Today my article about Mommy Tax appeared in Sammiches & Psych Meds. If you enjoy, please spread the love by liking, commenting or sharing.

Syndicated post: What happened when I let my kid say crap

I was tickled to see that Brynn Burger over at Mama on the Rocks syndicated my post that originally appeared on Sammiches & Psych Meds.

This is also one of my favorite articles, guaranteed to make you laugh if you read it to the end.

Woman earns Zumba soloist position

I love this Zumba meme, declaring, "There are no mistakes. Only unexpected solos."

To this day, when I zig and everyone else in my class zags, I think to myself, "Unexpected solo! Right here."

That's what inspired my latest satirical piece, published this morning on Sammiches & Psych Meds/Mock Mom.

As always, if you like what you read, please share the love by liking, commenting or sharing.

NICU nurses are the best!

My NICU baby will reach the double digits this week!

I read this article last week about the awesomeness of NICU nurses. I didn't write it, but coincidentally, the author also has a big guy on the cusp of 10 years old.

I thought this was perfectly stated and want to share it far and wide.

From My House Full of Boys, Dear NICU Nurse...

I also talk to the weird mermaid lady

Today I want to give a shout out to Brynn Burger at Mama on the Rocks. Her very relatable article ran last week on Blunt Moms: Dear Starbucks -- I Love You.

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who talks to the weird mermaid lady.

A letter to my crazy, shoe-eating mutt

This one is for the animal lovers out there. I wrote it right after my pooch tracked her little pawprints all over my white floor. While it started as a vent, it somehow turned into a love letter.

It's true you eat our shoes, but we love you anyway!

I'm honored that this was featured today in Her View From Home, an awesome site with one of the most supportive group of writers and editors I've ever worked with.
